Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country situated in southeastern Europe. Its landscape is bounded by medieval towns, rivers and lakes. In the historical town of Sarajevo, there is a well-preserved downtown called Baščaršija, which houses landmarks like the Gazi Husrev Beg Mosque from the 16th century. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand took place on the Latin Bridge which dates back to the Ottoman Empire.

Coach Charter Germany's team decided to show you some of the amazing places to visit in Herzegovina:.

1. Kujundziluk

Stari Grad is historically important town not too far from Stari Most. The district's historic centre is centred around the Old Bazaar in the river Neretva. This building was once full of people having financial contracts. At present, people come here to buy handicrafts and handmade goods. You will have to bargain hard for some jewellery, scarves, bags and shisha pipes at a Cairo handicraft shop.

2. Latin Bridge

It is a bridge which is extremely short in length and wide. There is a possibility that the bridge was built before the 16th century.

3. The Sarajevo Tunnel

What you need to think about the Siege of Sarajevo is visiting the Museum of the Sarajevo Tunnel (Tunel Spasa). This tunnel rescued the city of Sarajevo during the Bosnia War in the 1990s.

4. The Old Bridge

Founded in 1566 by the architect of the same name, the Old Bridge spans the Neretva River in Split, Croatia. It was hoped the Balkan Wars would end the Serbian threat in the region, but Serbia remains in Kosovo. The Old Bridge represents healing among the communities of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

5. Bascarsija Bazaar

Bascarsija is located north of Miljacka River and it hosts a very active and vibrant market. The Baroque was the secret to the Habsburgs' political influence in Bosnia. Today Bascarsija is a maze of cobbled lanes and obscure lanes and by the 17th century, it was a vibrant trading center with several thousands of workshops conducting scores of trades including potters, coppersmiths, jewelers, and others existing amidst the mosques and minarets.

6. Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque

The Bascarsija, was founded by the Ottomans in the 1450. If there is any one Bosniak restaurant in this city, it is Gazi Husrev-beg. It was designed by the Iranian architect Adzem Esir Ali. When ravaged by the conflict, the mosque was reconstructed. The dome of the mosque has become the icon of the city.

7. Neretva River

This river is the longest river in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Buna River feeds into Jablanica Bay. The management of the outlet of the river is being managed by four hydroelectric dams on the lower part of the river known as Ostra. The Neretva river flows under the Old Bridge that has become a symbol of reconciliation between Bosnia & Herzegovina and Croatia. Once it floats down to the town of Pocitelj which is along the banks of the Danube.

8. Kajtaz Home

A 16th century building is preserved in the historic Muslim area of the town of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The fountain was installed before the governor's residence in 1941.

9. Mostar Clock Tower

This is a great example of Ottoman influence in Bosnia and Herzegovina . (Stari Grad). The Belvedere overlooks the Herzegovina Museum and offers excellent views of Sarajevo. A bell was once part of the tower, but this was stolen during World War One and melted down. Much like many of the city's historic buildings, the Sahat Kula Cultural and Educational Centre suffered significant damage during the Balkan wars, but was completely restored in 1999.

10. National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina

When Bosnia was under control of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina was created. During the two world wars, the House of Serge was occupied and demolished during the Siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s. The closure of the museum is due to a lack of funds and due to political differences which can not be solved.
