1. Vapriikki Museum
Based in the spacious former engineering works of Tampella, a 20th-century heavy industry manufacturer, Vapriikki is made up of several museums. Everyone should find something to catch their eyes, whether it's the Television Museum, the Museum of Natural History, the Mineral Museum, the Postal Museum or the Doll Museum. The complex is humongous, with a surface area of around 14,000 square meters, but there is also plenty of room for temporary displays at Vapriikki. 2. Cathedral of Tampere
This magnificent Lutheran cathedral dates back to 1907 and is built of an iconic Finnish gray granite with a striking red roof. The iridescent gothic frescoes inside are particularly striking, not just because of their artistic merit, but also because of the controversy surrounding them. When the cathedral opened, many people were offended by the depiction of a serpent on the roof, arguing that it represented sin and corruption.
3. Theme Park of Särkänniemi
Särkänniemi is more than just a fun park. It's a complex that has days worth of entertainment. There's an aquarium, a planetary, a carnival game area, a popular Näsinneula observation tower, and a regular calendar of events. Amusement Park also features the first Angry Birds theme land in the world.
4. The Moomin Museum
The Moomin Museum celebrates Finland 's favorite franchise through a series of sketches and works of art by Tove Jansson. The piece of resistance in the collection is the famous Moomin House replica, designed by Jansson and her partner Tuulikki Pietilä as a full-scale version of Moomin 's home. 6. Park of the Duck
This very curiously-called park next to the Moomin Museum is the ideal place to relax, have a picnic and feed the ducks on the lake or the domestic birds in the aviary. Alternatively, wander around to find all the sculptures on display in the park.
7. Church of Finlayson
The Gothic Revival Church of 1879, built of the same red brick as the other industrial buildings of Tampere. This is rather fitting, because it was originally intended for employees of the Finlayson cotton company, but is more widely used by the Lutheran Church. Most popular of all is the St. Petersburg organ, which dates back to the opening of the church.
8. Alexander's Church
One of the most beautiful churches in Tampere, named after Tsar Alexander II. The Gothic-style church uses red brick again and has a green roof tinged with age. Because of its grand presence, the interior is still quiet and calming. The surrounding gardens and the cemetery also offer a lot of church history and a spot to rest.
9. The Mineral Museum of Tampere
The Vapriikki Mineral Museum is home to a huge array of minerals, rocks, jewellery, sea shells, corals and sculptures from around the world.
