A resident of Piazza Castello, the Palace plays a central role in Turin and has been a symbol of power for hundreds of years. A straightforward design with a square plan and a central courtyard has been selected – the front façade features white stonework and many small ornate windows that create a stately and official building.

2. Palazzo Madamea

Turin is packed with extravagant palaces and historic buildings, and Palazzo Madama is the second palace to be located in Piazza Castello. Established in the first century BC, the original palace stood for hundreds of years during the Roman Empire and was extensively revamped and enlarged in the years to come. Originally used as a defensive fortification, it wasn't until the 13th century that the building became a palace. Standing on Castello Square, the palace's front façade features a row of ornate columns and a palisade.

3. The Antonellian Mole

Perhaps the most distinct building in the whole of Turin, the Mole Antonelliana rises above the skyline and its large, pointed basilica is the emblem of the city. Mole in Italian literally means a monumental building, and this particular mole was built in 1889, even though it looks much older. Originally a Jewish synagogue, the building now houses the National Cinema Museum and is actually the highest museum in the world. At night, the basilica of the building is lit up and serves as a light visible from many areas of the world. A trip to Turin isn't complete.

5. San Giovanni Battista Cathedral

The Duomo di Torino, built on the site of three previous churches, is a fine example of the Renaissance architecture that was built in 1491. Located next to the Royal Palace, this church is dedicated to the patron saint of Turin, Giovanni Battista. The front façade is made of white marble and is simple but functional, with attractive steps leading out to Piazza San Giovanni. There is a multitude of architectural features within the cathedral, including some impressive frescoes and marble sculptures of famous religious figures. In reality, a free standing bell tower stands unconnected to the cathedral and can be climbed with a magnificent view of the cathedral.

6. Shroud of Turin

Many people may have learned of this very important and sacred religious artifact. This religious artifact is a piece of cloth that allegedly bears the image of Jesus of Nazareth and is thought to be his burial shroud. The origins and the identity of the shroud have been debated by historians, scientists and theologians alike, and no definitive story has arisen. The royal chapel of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist is home to the shroud and is, in itself, very fascinating and fascinating.

7. Global Museum of Cinema

Within the park you can find a beautiful Botanical Garden, the Valentino Castle and a recreation of the medieval village. There are also a multitude of walking and cycling paths, open pastures and a great walk along the river. If you're looking for a refreshment or a meal, you can also find a variety of fine cafes and restaurants on the grounds of the park.

10. Porta Palatina

One of the many Roman ruins still standing in modern Turin today, the Porta Palatina has acted as the best preserved Roman gateway in the world since the 1st century.
